Behold The Lamb

Verse of the Day: John 1:29

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”

John the Baptist stood at the edge of history, pointing away from himself and toward Jesus. When he saw Christ approaching, he didn’t offer applause or explanation, he offered revelation. He identified Jesus as God’s perfect sacrifice, the One who would remove humanity’s burden of sin. John understood his role: not to be the focus, but to prepare hearts to recognise the Saviour.

What makes John’s testimony powerful is his humility. He admitted he did not recognise Jesus by human insight alone. It was God who opened his eyes. The Spirit’s descent and abiding presence marked Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah, the One who would bring not just cleansing, but new life through the Holy Spirit. John’s witness reminds us that faith is not built on opinion, but on divine revelation.

Reflection:

Where is your attention directed today, toward yourself or toward Christ? Like John, are you willing to step back so Jesus can be clearly seen in your words and actions? Ask God to sharpen your spiritual sight so you can recognise His work and boldly testify to who Jesus is.

Prayer:

Lord, open my eyes to see Jesus more clearly. Help me to humble myself and point others to Him. Thank You for the Lamb who carried my sin and for the Spirit who confirms truth in my heart. May my life reflect Your glory, not my own. Amen.
