Verse of the Day: Ephesians 4:13 NKJV
“till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”
Many believers, though sincere in their faith, remain spiritually stagnant, showing little growth over the years. They know Christ, but they have not grown “into Him in all things”. It’s easy to become comfortable with simply believing in Christ for salvation, thinking, “I am safe,” but God calls us to more. We should not be satisfied with remaining in a spiritually immature state, but should desire to grow into the fullness that is available in Jesus.
The Christian life is not just about surviving but thriving in our walk with God. Just as a plant progresses from the “green blade” to the “full corn in the ear,” so should we seek to mature spiritually. Why should it always feel like winter in our hearts when we could experience the warmth and fruitfulness of a spiritual spring and summer? We must long for a deeper relationship with Jesus, to know Him intimately, and to reflect His character more fully. As 2 Peter 3:18 says, we are called to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
This growth requires drawing near to Jesus and abiding in His presence. We need to move beyond a distant view of Christ and, like the apostle John, rest in the closeness of His love and communion. As we spend time with Him—praying, reading His Word, and listening for His voice—we will grow in holiness, love, faith, and hope.
Reflection
Take a moment to reflect on the following verses:
2 Peter 3:18; Ephesians 4:11-16
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us not to be content with just knowing about You, but to seek a deeper relationship with Your Son. May we grow in grace and maturity, reflecting Your love, holiness, and truth more each day. Draw us closer to You, that we may advance in spiritual wisdom, faith, and love.
