Love in Obedience

Verse of The Day: 1 John 5:3

“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.”

Many people see obedience to God as pressure, but John paints a different picture. Following God is not meant to drain us. It is the natural response of a heart that truly loves Him. When you care deeply about someone, you do not struggle to honour what matters to them. In the same way, walking with God becomes less about rules and more about relationship.

There are days when doing what is right feels uncomfortable. Forgiving someone, staying honest, or choosing peace over pride can be hard. Yet God never asks us to walk alone. His Spirit gives strength for every step. What once felt heavy becomes lighter when love leads the way.

God’s instructions are not there to steal joy. They protect us, guide us, and draw us closer to Him. A life surrendered to God is not restricted. It is secure.

Reflection:

Are there areas where you obey God out of routine instead of love? Ask Him to renew your heart so your actions flow from genuine devotion.

Prayer:

Father, help me to love You with sincerity and not just with words. Teach me to follow Your ways with joy and trust. Give me strength to obey even when it is difficult. Let my life reflect a heart that truly knows You. Amen.
