The Glory Belongs to God Alone

Verse of the Day: Psalm 29:2 NKJV

“Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.”

God’s glory is a reflection of His perfect nature and the wonderful things He does. Everything that is holy, good, and beautiful originates in Him, making Him glorious beyond measure. His actions flow from His pure character, displaying His goodness, mercy, and justice. Yet, He desires that all the glory for these things be given to Him alone. We have nothing in ourselves to boast about because everything we are and have comes from God’s grace. Knowing this, we must walk humbly before Him.

Whenever we try to take glory for ourselves, we forget our place in God’s creation. It is foolish for us to glorify ourselves when God alone is worthy of all praise. Whenever we accomplish something for the Lord, and He graciously accepts our efforts, we should humbly lay our achievements at His feet. Let us always remember to say, “Not I, but the grace of God within me,” giving Him the glory He alone deserves.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, teach us to always give You the glory in all things. Help us to walk humbly before You, recognising that every good gift comes from Your hand. Keep us from boasting in ourselves and remind us that it is Your grace that enables us to do anything of value.
