Verse of The Day: Ephesians 5:11
Therefore be imitators of God as dear children
Children naturally reflect the character of their parents. They copy gestures, repeat phrases, and mirror attitudes. In the same way, Paul calls us to resemble our Heavenly Father. To imitate God is not about perfection; it is about relationship. We echo who we love.
When we understand that we are cherished sons and daughters, obedience flows from affection rather than obligation. God demonstrates compassion, patience, forgiveness, and sacrificial love. As His children, we are invited to display those same qualities in our daily lives — at home, at work, and even in difficult conversations.
Imitating God means choosing mercy over retaliation, humility over pride, and kindness over harshness. It means walking in love even when it costs us something. We do not strive to copy Him to earn His approval; we reflect Him because we already belong to Him.
Every day presents opportunities to resemble our Father more closely. Through the Spirit’s help, we grow into His likeness, shining His light in a world that desperately needs His grace.
Reflection
In what areas of my life do I most clearly reflect God’s character?
Where is He inviting me to grow in love, patience, or forgiveness today?
Prayer
Father, thank You for calling me Your child. Shape my heart to mirror Yours. Teach me to walk in compassion, integrity, and selfless love. May my words and actions reveal Your goodness to others. Strengthen me by Your Spirit to live in a way that honours You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
