Verse of the Day: Matthew 5:13
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
Jesus tells us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. He is not asking us to try harder to become something new. He is reminding us of who we already are because we belong to Him.
Salt is useful only when it keeps its taste. In the same way, our faith must stay true and alive. If we live just like everyone else, we lose our influence. Light is meant to shine so others can see clearly. When our lives look no different from the darkness around us, we fail to point people to God.
Jesus calls us to live differently, not by hiding from the world, but by showing His love, kindness, and truth every day. The qualities He taught, like humility, mercy, and obedience, are meant to be seen in how we speak, work, and treat others.
We do not change the world by copying it. We change it by living out our faith with courage and consistency. When we live as salt and light, people can see Christ through us, even in a broken and dark world.
Reflection
Where might God be inviting me to live my faith more openly, without compromise yet full of grace?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for calling me what I already am in You. Sharpen my witness and brighten my steps. Help me reflect Your character wherever You place me. Keep me different for Your glory. Amen.
