Verse of the Day: John 1:1
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John opens his Gospel by lifting our eyes beyond history into eternity. He presents Jesus not merely as a teacher, but as the divine expression of God Himself. Calling Him “the Word,” John shows that Jesus is God’s ultimate self-disclosure. What humanity longed to hear through visions and messengers has now been spoken through a living Person. God’s promises, purposes, and character find their fullest meaning in Christ.
Before time began, He already was. Without origin or conclusion, He stands outside all limits. He shared perfect fellowship with God and yet possesses the very nature of God. Though God is one in essence, He exists eternally as Father, Son, and Spirit, each wholly divine, never divided.
When the Son entered our world, He did not cease being God. Instead, He embraced humanity completely. This union allows us to approach Him personally, yet knowing Him only as a man falls short. Understanding His divine identity requires spiritual illumination. Flesh may recognise His humanity, but revelation unveils His glory.
Only the Son makes the Father truly known. To encounter Jesus is to encounter God’s heart.
Reflection:How do you see Jesus today—only as a historical figure, or as the eternal Son revealing the Father to you? Ask God to deepen your vision beyond the familiar.
Prayer:
Father, open my eyes to know Your Son as You desire to be known. Draw me beyond surface understanding into living revelation. Let my heart recognize His glory and walk in that truth daily. Amen.
