Jesus Our Light

Verse of The Day: John 12:46

“I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.”

Darkness affects the way we see. A familiar room can suddenly feel uncertain when the lights go out. You may know where everything is, yet you move carefully because you cannot see clearly.

Jesus uses this picture to explain what He came to do for us. He did not simply come to give better advice or help us become more religious. He came as Light.

Without Christ, humanity lives in spiritual darkness. We may have education, ambition, success and strong opinions, yet still remain unable to see God, ourselves and life as we truly should. Sin blinds. Fear confuses. The world offers many voices, but only Jesus reveals the Father and shows us the way to life.

The wonderful promise in this verse is that whoever believes in Christ does not have to remain in darkness. Faith in Jesus brings us into a new place. We begin to see God differently. We discover forgiveness, purpose, truth and hope.

Sometimes believers can still find themselves walking through confusing seasons, but confusion does not mean Christ has left us. The Light is still present. Instead of allowing fear, circumstances or human opinion to lead us, we can turn again to Jesus and allow His Word to guide our steps.

You were not rescued from darkness to keep living as though the light never came.

What area of your life are you struggling to see clearly? Are you allowing Christ and His Word to guide you, or are other voices becoming louder?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for coming into the world as Light. Open my eyes to see You more clearly and help me recognise anything that is drawing me back into darkness. Let Your Word guide my decisions, thoughts and relationships.

Help me to live in such a way that others can see Your light through my life. Amen.
