Knowing God More Deeply

Verse of The Day: Ephesians 1:17

“that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him”

There is a difference between knowing things about God and truly knowing Him.

The believers in Ephesus had already heard the gospel and believed in Christ, yet Paul still prayed that they would know God more. This reminds us that coming to faith is the beginning of a growing relationship, not the end of our discovery.

Paul describes God as “the God of our Lord Jesus Christ” and “the Father of glory.” Jesus came to reveal the Father to us. Through Christ, we are brought into fellowship with the God whom Jesus perfectly knows and loves.

But we cannot understand God simply through human intelligence. We need the Holy Spirit to open our understanding. He gives wisdom to recognise God’s ways and revelation to see truths we might otherwise overlook.

Sometimes our greatest need is not another answer to our circumstances. It is a clearer view of God in the middle of them.

The more we know Him, the more our fears, priorities and expectations begin to change. Scripture becomes more than information. Prayer becomes more than asking for things. Faith becomes rooted in who God is.

Paul’s prayer can become ours today: “Father, help me to know You better.”

Reflection:

Am I satisfied with what I already know about God, or am I still hungry to know Him more deeply?

Prayer:

Father, give me wisdom and spiritual understanding to know You more. Open my eyes to see the truth of Christ more clearly. Let my knowledge of You transform the way I think, pray and live.
