Reflecting Christ

Aug 23
2 min read

Verse of The Day: Matthew 5:16

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Jesus did not save us simply to make us better people. He saved us so that His life can be seen through ours.

Light does not need to announce itself. When it enters a dark room, its presence becomes obvious. In the same way, there should be something about the way we live that makes people notice the difference Christ makes.

This can happen in ordinary moments. Choosing honesty when dishonesty would be easier. Showing kindness to someone who cannot repay you. Refusing to join gossip. Forgiving when you have every reason to remain offended. Helping someone quietly without needing recognition. These actions may seem small, but they can reveal something of Jesus.

Our good works are not meant to make people admire us. Jesus said they should cause people to glorify our Father. That means our lives should leave people thinking more about God than about us.

You may never preach behind a pulpit, but your character is speaking every day. Your family, friends, colleagues and neighbours are watching how you respond to pressure, disappointment and people who are difficult to love.

So do not underestimate the influence of a life surrendered to Christ. Wherever God has placed you today, let someone see a little more of Jesus because they encountered you.

Reflection:

If someone observed my life closely today, what would they learn about Jesus?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for bringing me out of darkness into Your light. Let Your character be seen through my words, choices and actions. Make my life a clear testimony of the grace of God.
