The Saving Gospel

Verse of The Day: Romans 1:16

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”

Paul lived in a world where following Jesus could attract ridicule, rejection, and even persecution. Yet he boldly declared that he was not ashamed of the Gospel. Why? Because he understood what the Gospel really is.

The Gospel is not simply good advice about how to become a better person. It is the good news of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ.

Human effort cannot remove sin or reconcile us to God. Education cannot do it. Morality cannot do it. Religion cannot do it. But through the death and resurrection of Jesus, God has provided salvation.

This is why Paul calls the Gospel “the power of God to salvation.”

God’s saving power is revealed when the message of Christ is heard and believed. Through the Gospel, sinners receive forgiveness, the guilty are declared righteous, those who were far from God are brought near, and people who were spiritually dead receive new life.

And this invitation is open to everyone.

Your background does not disqualify you. Your past does not place you beyond God’s reach. Salvation is not reserved for a particular race, class, culture, or type of person.

The Gospel announces that Jesus has done what we could never do for ourselves.

Our response is not to be ashamed of this message, but to believe it, live in its reality, and confidently share it with others.

Reflection:

Is there anyone I have quietly assumed is too difficult, too distant, or too unlikely to believe? The Gospel reminds us that God is able to save anyone who believes.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for the salvation You have freely provided. Help me never to be ashamed of Jesus or afraid to speak about what He has done. Give me courage and opportunities to share Christ with others, trusting Your power to bring people to salvation.
