What You Have In Christ
Verse of The Day: Philemon 1:6
“that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”
Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about what is missing in our lives that we overlook what God has already given us in Christ.
Paul’s prayer for Philemon was that his faith would become effective as he recognised every good thing that was already his in Christ Jesus. This means that spiritual growth is not only about asking God for more. It is also about discovering, believing and living from what He has already placed within us through our union with Christ.
In Christ, you have been forgiven. You have been accepted by God. You have received His Spirit. You have access to His grace. You are no longer defined by your past, your failures or the opinions of others.
When you become conscious of these truths, they begin to affect how you live. You pray with greater confidence because you know you are accepted. You show grace because you have received grace. You face difficulties differently because you know you are not alone.
Faith becomes practical when what God says about us becomes more real to us than what circumstances say.
Today, instead of focusing only on what you need God to do, take some time to thank Him for what He has already done and for who you have become in Christ.
Reflection:
What truth about your life in Christ do you need to become more conscious of today?
Prayer:
Father, open my understanding to see all that You have given me in Christ. Help me to live from the truth of Your Word rather than from fear, feelings or circumstances. Let my life reveal the reality of Christ within me. Amen.
