A Life That Glorifies God
Verse of The Day: John 15:8
“By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”
Have you ever wondered what truly brings glory to God through your life? Is it how much you know about Him, how often you attend church, or how actively you serve?
While these things have their place, Jesus draws our attention to something deeper: a life that produces fruit.
In John 15, Jesus describes Himself as the true vine and His followers as the branches. A branch does not struggle to produce fruit independently. It draws its nourishment from the vine. In the same way, the Christian life is not sustained by human effort but through a living relationship with Christ.
The fruit Jesus speaks about is the visible evidence of His life at work in us. It is revealed in our character, our love for others, our obedience to His Word, and the good works that flow from our union with Him.
Interestingly, Jesus does not merely call us to bear fruit, but much fruit. This reminds us that spiritual growth is meant to be continuous. As we remain in Christ, His Word transforms our desires, renews our minds, and increasingly makes His character evident in our lives.
We must remember that fruitfulness is not about making a name for ourselves. The ultimate purpose is that the Father receives glory.
Perhaps the question we should ask ourselves today is not simply, "What am I doing for God?" but rather, "Is the life of Christ becoming more evident in me?"
A fruitful life is not one that draws attention to itself, but one that directs others to Christ.
Reflection:
Are my actions and attitudes bringing glory to God?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for calling me into a living relationship with Your Son. Let Your Word transform my heart, and may my life increasingly reflect the character of Jesus. Help me to bear fruit that honours You and points others to Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
