Surrender Daily
Verse of The Day: Romans 6:13
“And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.”
Every day, we make choices about how we use the life God has given us. Our words, thoughts, actions and decisions reveal who or what is influencing us.
Before we came to Christ, sin exercised dominion over us. But through His death and resurrection, we have been brought into a new life. We are no longer slaves to sin. This is not merely a promise for the future but a present reality that should influence how we live.
Paul reminds us in Romans 6:13 that our bodies and abilities can either serve sinful desires or be devoted to God's purposes. Think about it. The same tongue that can speak hurtful words can encourage someone. The same hands that can participate in wrongdoing can serve others. The same mind that entertains sinful thoughts can be occupied with God's truth.
Living for God, therefore, is not simply about avoiding what is wrong. It is about intentionally making ourselves available for what pleases Him.
This does not mean we will never face temptation or struggle. Rather, it means sin no longer has the rightful authority to govern our lives. Through the grace of God, we can choose obedience.
Today, consider the areas of your life that you may still be holding back from God. He is not asking for occasional acts of obedience but a life continually yielded to Him.
A surrendered life is not one without choices, but one that consistently chooses to honour God.
Reflection:
Are there areas of my life where I still allow sinful desires to influence my decisions? How can I intentionally make myself available for God's purposes today?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the new life I have received through Christ. Help me to recognise that I no longer belong to sin but to You. Teach me to surrender my thoughts, words, actions and desires to Your will. Amen.
