Beyond The Foundation
Verse of The Day: Hebrews 6:1
Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God”
Imagine someone who has been in school for years but is still learning the same lessons from their first day. Something is clearly missing. The same can happen in our walk with God.
It is possible to know the Scriptures, attend church regularly, and participate in spiritual activities without experiencing meaningful growth. We may become familiar with Christian practices while remaining unchanged in our attitudes, decisions, and relationships.
The writer of Hebrews challenges believers to progress beyond the beginning of their Christian experience. Repentance and faith are essential foundations, but foundations are meant to support something greater.
Spiritual maturity is not measured by how long we have been Christians or how much Scripture we can quote. It becomes evident in our growing understanding of Christ, obedience to His Word, love for others, and ability to discern what pleases God.
We never outgrow our need for Jesus. Rather, as we grow in knowing Him, His truth becomes increasingly evident in how we live.
God desires more than our familiarity with the Christian faith. He wants us to grow into the fullness of Christ.
Reflection:
Are there areas of your Christian life where you have become comfortable with what you know rather than growing in what you practise?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me into Your family through Christ. Help me never to become content with spiritual familiarity. Deepen my understanding of Your Word, strengthen my obedience, and help me reflect Christ more faithfully in my daily life. Amen.
